A 30’ x 90’ tent, totally dedicated to archery hunting. Come out and bring your bow for free bow tuning, paper tuning and have it chronographed to test your bow’s speed and ability. Feel free to take advantage of the three archery lanes to learn how to shoot:, or test your current bow. See all of the newest product lines of bows from Martin, Diamond, and Fred Bear. You’re never too old or too young to learn how to shoot. Come take advantage of the free expert knowledge available to you at “ARCHERY WORLD” presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods.

The Stinkin Springs Sharpshooters play a major role in this yearly event. Displaying traditional living techniques and demonstrating mountain man skills. The kids and adults are in awe while enjoying tomohawk throwing, outdoor cooking, and the many activities available.

Catfish Competition
Catfish Competition is held to secure large catfish for display in the fish tank for the kids during the Hunting & Fishing Days event. Catfish not needed for the fish tank will be released in the kids fishing pond. Fishing may begin after 6:00 P.M., September 24, 2010. You may fish any legal pond, lake, stream, or river by any legal fishing method, and any legal species of Catfish may be weighed in. Catfish must be alive and will be kept by the event and be released at the end of event.
WEIGH-IN 10:30 A.M., September 25, 2010 on the main stage at the John A. Logan College Hunting & Fishing Days event, Carterville, Illinois. Only one fish may be presented for weigh-in per team. For information, call 618-985-3741, Ext. 8208, or fax requests to 618-985-4654.

Free Again Wildlife Rehabilitation Center
Free Again, Inc. began in 1988 by Beverly Shofstall, while working as a veterinary technician at Central Hospital for Animals in Herrin. The facility has since grown and now takes in over 400 animals annually.
The purposes of Free Again are:
- to rehabilitate orphaned and injured wildlife for return to their natural environment
- to study the behavior and diseases of wildlife
- to educate the public on the importance of all wildlife in our environment
Some animals, primarily non-releasable birds of prey, are kept for educational programs in order for Free Again to continue educating children and adults around the region. You can visit their website at www.freeagaininc.org/

The Outdoor Art & Heritage Show takes place in the College gymnasium during Hunting & Fishing Days. The purpose of the Show is to promote artistic, cultural, and natural history activities that relate to outdoor recreation. Artists, authors, collectors, bookstores, museums, and others set up displays and provide activities for visitors. Register online to be an exhibitor.

So. IL Hunting and Fishing Days Crab Orchard Refuge High School Bass Classic
Saturday – Sept. 25, 2010. Event weigh-in 2:00 p.m., So. IL Hunting and Fishing Days Outdoor Stage!
What: Held in conjunction with the So. IL celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day, So. Illinois area high school bass fishing teams will compete in this inaugural event on Saturday, Sept. 25th, 2010.
Where: Participants will fish Crab Orchard Lake, and the parade of boats and weigh-in will be held on the SI Hunting and Fishing Days Outdoor Stage on the campus of John A. Logan College.
When: Saturday, Sept. 25th, 2010

Youth Wildlife Art Contest
Students in 5th, 6th, and 7th grades in southern Illinois are invited to enter the Youth Wildlife Art Contest. A specific animal is assigned to each grade and the animals change every year. Judges select ten finalists for each grade, and then select the top winner for each grade. The thirty finalist pieces are exhibited in the John A. Logan College Museum’s conference center galleries during Hunting and Fishing Days. The top winners receive prizes at a recognition event.
